Scrap†metal is discarded metal suitable for reprocessing.  It is an important source of industrial metals and alloys, especially when producing steel, copper, lead, aluminum, and zinc.  Mostly, the term is used to describe left over materials that are recyclable.

They can be taken from every manner of product consumption such as vehicles, building supplies, and other surplus materials.  Scrap is usually blended and re-melted to produce alloys similar to or more complex than those from which the scrap was derived.
